Amway & Its ABOs Donated RM326,940 Towards “Let’s Fight COVID-19 Together” Donation Campaign

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the lives of Malaysians from all walks of life. In its bid to help frontliners combat the spread of the virus in Malaysia and those who are directly affected by the pandemic, Amway Malaysia, a health and wellness direct selling company, launched a donation drive in April 2020 to collect funds to increase the availability for COVID-19 screening, especially for the needy.

The donation drive, which was held from 15 April to 30 May, encouraged Amway Business Owners (ABOs) to contribute a minimum amount of just RM5. In the spirit of upholding the Amway values that they hold dear, our ABOs showed just how generous they are by donating a total of RM163,470. Amway Malaysia matched the amount for a total donation amount of RM326,940.

Making A Difference

The funds enabled Amway Malaysia to support the purchase of over 6,500 pieces of COVID-19 test kits (more specifically, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) COVID-19 test kits) for the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).

The first batch of donation, valued at RM156,000, was presented on 4 May 2020, while the second batch of donation, valued at RM170,940, was handed over on 18 June 2020. Both events were graced by Mike Duong, Managing Director of Amway Malaysia & Brunei, as well as Prof Dr Tunku Kamarul Zaman Tunku Zainol Abidin, Director of University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).

The donation drive and handover ceremony at UMMC achieved media coverage from numerous news outlets including the News Straits Times, The Star, News Hub Asia, Marketing in Asia, Malaysian Business, Business Today and more.
